I was twenty-seven years old before I ever had the privilege of hearing the song, God Bless America. The song became both a joy and prayer to me, in fact I first heard the song at a business meeting. I wonder why I had never heard it before in either school, or church? It is such a powerful song of prayer, you would have thought I would have heard it earlier in life, but before that particular business meeting, I had never heard it. The words are: God bless America, land that I love. Stand beside her and guide her, though the night with your light from above. From the mountains, to the prairies, to the oceans white with foam. God bless America, my home sweet home.
American people, do you know that the Christian faith was so prevalent at the time of the Revolutionary War that the slogan of the day was, “We have no king save Jesus”? As a point of fact, this is the greatest part of the reasoning behind our national fathers revolting from King George's England. They were convicted that they could not abide under his ungodly rule, and sincerely serve Christ at the same time. That is the reason why the Declaration of Independence was submitted to King George with a list of over 60 long standing grievances that the first American colonies held against him.
Let us now fast forward in time some 230 plus years. Do we now think we can continue as a nation and overcome the incredible vices that grip us, such as: crime, the murder of our unborn, (abortion - 60 million plus babies have now been “legally” murdered) oppressive taxation, pornography, the moral sewage-that the great bulk of modern entertainment industry has become-- fornication among our people--the growing oppressive inclusion and dominance of various levels of government in every walk of life—divorce--the rebellion of our youth--a government that covers up the reality that the 911 destruction of the New York Twin Towers was obviously a preplanned, well executed demolition job that could have in no way been done by any foreigner--the depletion and corruption of our foods leading to a nationwide health crisis, the bone headed determination of our Supreme Court to rule that sodomy is marriage, etc., without sincerely turning to God? Apparently, our national father George Washington, did not think this nation could be run without turning to, and obeying God. For after the Revolutionary War he wrote to each of the governors of the thirteen states and said, “I now make it my earnest prayer that God....would incline the hearts of the citizens....to entertain a brotherly affection for one another, particularly for their brethren who have served in the field. And finally, that He would most graciously be pleased to dispose us all charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind, which were the characteristics of the Divine Author of our religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things, we can never hope to be a happy nation.”
“God Bless America” is an American Patriotic song written by Irving Berlin in 1918 and revised by him in 1938. “God Bless America” takes the form of a prayer for the blessing and peace of our nation.
Many of our leaders today, (Civil, academic, and religious) increasingly promote wickedness and perversion contrary to godliness, things which in good conscience I cannot, and will not support. I have no king but Yeshua. (Yeshua is the Hebrew name for the personality that many English-speaking people call Jesus) It is His law alone, within the context of the gospel of Messiah, that my soul swears its highest oath of obedience to. I will only obey any lesser government in so much as it follows the dictations of His higher law. How about you? In recent generations, our society has behaved its self like the Israelites’ of old during the time of the Judges, who decided not to call out to Yehovah, and then allow Him to lead and aide them. Rather, they insisted in having a king. In like manner America, we have turned from the ideal of our national fathers, for they established a nation under God where the gospel of Yeshua and His law ruled. We continually insist on having “Uncle Sam” to be our sovereign, our leader, our teacher, our provider, our protector, our healer, in short, our king and our god. Yehovah (The eternal name of God) is the One who birthed you America, and He is jealous. He brought you forth as a people civil, to live before Him in the blessing of the freedoms that come from a people in covenant with Him. A people believing and receiving the gospel of the Lord Yeshua, who then being empowered by the new birth experience could walk out the fulfillment of His laws and promises. A nation called to be a light in the world expressing the benefits and honor of a people who humbly and obediently walk in covenant with Him.
I call for an understanding that the rights, and the personhood of men are greater than that of the government. This is the very understanding that our national father's possessed. They understood it, because they understood that they were created by Yehovah, and it was they then that were to create a constitution, and then that that constitution would provide for a government, and then that government would provide for the case and statue laws which would govern the daily affairs of all its citizens Thus they realized that socialism, which is nothing less than the little sister of communism - is ungodly. For it places the government above the rights and duties of men. For the thing created can never be above, or greater than the one that created it. In other words, Yehovah created the man, therefore the man is subject to God. Man, created the Constitution, therefore man is greater than the Constitution.
The Constitution provided for the government, therefore the government is subject to the Constitution. Because of this reasoning sane men everywhere will conclude that the modern trend of denying Yehovah's law, and allowing or promoting any form of government (Whether religious, or our state or national civil governments) to teach its people to sin, (Live in violation of God's law) and to usurp the rights and the wealth of its citizens is ungodly, and cannot be allowed. If this nation is to continue there must be a remnant of the people who are willing to come to the place where they turn and render complete obedience and duty to the Almighty Sovereign alone, and then duke out the next American Revolution. But this revolution will not be against any foreign power, but against our own government, which seeks to lead us into greater and greater ungodliness and oppress us, and make us its slaves. This is entirely the spirit of anti-Messiah. It is such a government, with its promotion and allowance of wickedness that excites the wrath and judgment of the Almighty.
Let us repent of any and all forms of wickedness, and let us seek and serve the Living God.
An American Watchman,
