Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life. (Prov. 13:12 KJV) Dear fellow Christian, I suggest to you that hope is the fuel for the engine of faith, and that they both work their best when they are motivated and directed by love. Faith is meant to work by love, and so is Christian hope. The presence and operation of hope brings desire, which is, I suppose, the most basic element of motivation, and motivation is the fuel for action, and particularly persevering action.
Romans 5: 2-5 KJV reads: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
Fellow Christian, hope is huge. We as Christians, as the eyes of our understanding are opened by the Holy Spirit to all that Messiah has provided for us in our common salvation will certainly rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. I say to you that this is a very basic element of the motivation of the prayer life of a Christian. I pray because I possess hope, but not hope that is a “me” based hope. That sort of praying is very shallow, and the Holy Spirit will sow extremely little hope into our hearts for me centered prayers. But prayer that is based in Thy Will Be Done, meanings God’s will be done, that sort of prayer life will be blessed with abundant hope. And that hope will be a motivational force, and preserving force in the Christian’s life.
Speaking of our general salvation the Apostle Paul wrote: For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we a wait for it with patience. (Romans 8:24-25 ESV) Brothers and sisters, we are saved by hope, in that hope causes our hearts to continually look to God. I have, as I am sure you have, great desire and expectation concerning the hope of spending eternity in the presence of God enjoying all of Yehovah’s benefits. However, in this article let us focus on elements of Yehovah’s salvation that are to transpire here on earth as His kingdom is being built and brought forth. It is when we recognize these aspects of God’s will, and embrace them that we will begin to see them come to pass in our lives, and in the lives of fellow Christians, and the in the lives of the unsaved as they come to God to receive the salvation of our Lord.
A Burning Desire
Second only in my heart to the deep and burning desire to hear Yeshua’s words when I appear before Him, “Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” (Mat. 25:23 KJV) is the desire to experience with all my senses the great manifestations of the Holy Spirit which will occur in the Later Rain out-pouring of the Holy Spirit. I possess great desire in respect to all the promise that is held out for those that believe during the Last Days Out-pouring of The Holy Spirit - what we typically refer to as the Later Rain Revival. (James 5:7) The following are basic elements of that revival that will undoubtedly occur. My hope in the Lord is to experience with all my senses these elements in and among God’s people in the days ahead. This desire has been present in me and growing ever since I was a part of a revival that visited America during the 1970s. I was saved and baptized in the Holy Spirit at that time, and was made to taste of fantastic things in the Lord. Since that time my desire to see Him move across this land, and our world, in revival as continued to grow in intensity and knowledge. Please allow the grace of God to set the appetite of your life on these:
--Signs and wonder done in the name of Yeshua
--Great conviction of sin
--Great conviction of righteousness
--Great conviction in respect to the reality of that final judgment day
--Judgment against sin being experienced within the Church
--Unity among those that love the truth
--The breaking down of division within the household of faith, such as what today might be seen between denominations, and other forms of sectarianism.
--A clearer and clearer revelation and understand of what truth is, and a strong pressing to walk in the truth
--A strong and abiding movement of prayer
--A deep brotherly love among the people of faith
--A “fanatical” movement of evangelism, where sinners come under the conviction of the Holy Spirit and surrender to Yeshua in great numbers, and are then discipled in the faith and knowledge of Yeshua
--Ministries being raised up in answer to the saints praying that the Lord would send forth labors into the harvest
These elements of what comprise a revival offer continue and meaningful hope to me as I pray. I in hope, pray for these things. Take these elements of hope and make them your own Dear Christian. Allow them to infuse your heart with hope of the glory of God.
