Various “Christian Holidays”, And Why They Are Un-Holy, And Why The Celebration Of Them Does Not Fulfill The Scripture

This article is meant to aide in the exposing of the un-Biblical practice of celebrating various modern religious holidays that are commonly thought of as Christian, but in light of Torah understanding and obedience, they are seen to be ancient pagan holidays that have been “Christianized”, and therefore stand contrary to God in that they are not pure worship. That is, they are worship that is not according to Torah, which is also to say, not according to the truth, and therefore, worship that is not Yehovah centered.

Jesus (Yeshua) said to her, “Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. (That is to say, that salvation is of the Torah, the Biblical books of history, the Psalms, and the Prophets. For all these came forth by the anointing of the Holy Spirit to the Jews – 2 Tim. 3:16, Ro. 3:2, Ro. 9:4-5) But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” (John 4:21-28 ESV)

Bit by bit, over the period of many years the Holy One has caused it to be revealed to my understanding various ways in which I, following common modern Christian tradition worshiped contrary to the commandments of Yehovah. In this set of articles about “Christian holidays”, my purpose is to be used of Yehovah as an instrument of His enlightenment to testify to you of the falsity of man-made, satanically inspired religious traditions and holidays. I freely admit, it has taken the Holy Spirit many years to bring me to the points of understanding what I am now passing on to you. In my case, as I believe is the case of very many people in the world today, for numerous years I believed elements of man’s religious traditions as the truth, simply because they were passed on to me as the truth by my parents, other family members, society at large, and the Church. Sign When everyone, or nearly everyone in one’s life believes something to be true, then it is quite naturally accepted as the truth by any individual, and especially when he/she is a child. The very nature of tradition is that way.

Decent, sincere, and good meaning people that were in my life had false traditions passed on to them by their ancestors, and in turned passed them unto myself believing they were passing the truth unto me. Yes, they were sincere. Yes, they were well meaning, but yes, they had been lied to, therefore they were deceived, and in that deception, they passed lies unto me, all the while believing they were passing the truth unto me. I, in ignorance and innocence (And I am sure much like many who will read this article) received major traditions of our society as the truth. However, may praise be offered to God! In these last days the truth of God is being revealed by means of His Laws being openly taught, and being received by those who hunger and thirst for the truth. Yehovah’s laws are truth. Yehovah’s laws alone are the standard in which every thought and action can be evaluated to see if it is truth or fiction. This statement is true, for Yehovah’s laws all point to Yeshua. Yeshua, is the perfect human expression of the Torah. Yeshua, and the Torah are by no means contradictory to one another, and in no way, do they conflict with each other. (Mat. 5:17-20, Mat, 23:1-3)

Tradition is defined by a leading modern dictionaries as:

  • The passing down of elements of a culture from generation to generation, especially by oral communication

  • a belief, or story, or a body of beliefs or stories relating to the past that are commonly accepted as historical truth, though not verifiable

The point of this article is to establish that the traditions of various religious “holidays” are not now, nor have they ever been in alignment with the truth of the Scriptures, but in fact, spring forth from elements of ancient pagan worship that were “Christian-ized” by the Roman Catholic Church when it was conceived by the order of the Roman Emperor Constantine. Who in his time threaten death to any person who did not conform to the dictates of his then, new world Church.

Good News For The Pure Of Heart

The prophet Jeremiah, who lived some 600 years before the birth of Messiah foretold a time when gentiles (People of the nations, non-Jews) would come to Yehovah from all over the world and say, “O Lord, (Yehovah) my strength and my stronghold, my refuge in the day of trouble, to You shall the nations come from the ends of the earth and say: “Our fathers have inherited nothing but lies, worthless things in which there is no profit. Can man make for himself gods? Such are not gods!” Therefore, behold, I will make them know, this once I will make them know my power and my might, and they shall know that my name is the Lord.” (Yehovah) (Jer. 16:19-21 ESV)

You, who are reading this article, I say to you, this is exactly what is happening throughout the world today. The many expression of traditions that have been from generation to generation passed on to us by our ancestors, that we have received as truth, are being found in reality to be lies that have been shrouded in carefully concocted religious traditions. These lies have over the centuries worked their way through the entire earth very affectively “leavening” the thinking of our modern religious, political, and economic systems. With this in mind, my call to you is, as your call to your neighbor ought to be:

Come Out Of Babylon

Then I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you take part in her sins, lest you share in her plagues; for her sins are heaped high as heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities. (Iniquity means lawlessness, which is Torah-less-ness) (Rev, 18:4-5 ESV)

In times past the Holy One may have winked at our confusion and disobedience in that it stemmed from ignorance, but the time of ignorance is passing. (2 Tim. 2:13) The Holy Spirit now commands His own to depart from every pollution of man, many of which are pagan influences that are embodied in common modern religious and social traditions. As the Scripture says, “And what concord hath the temple of God with Belial? Or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For ye are the temple of God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore, come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters saith the Lord Almighty. (2 Co. 6: 15-18 KJV) The Apostle John being carried by God in the spirit saw the spirit of Babylon and said, “Come out of her my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not her plagues.” (Rev. 18: 4bKJV) The Apostle Paul warning the people of Colossae of the danger of being corrupted by the ideas of men said, “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the traditions of men, after the rudiments of this world, and not after Christ.” (Messiah) (Col. 2:8 KJV) The Messiah, Yeshua, very strongly exposed the nature of men’s traditions when He said, “Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrine the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandments of God ye hold the traditions of men……full well ye reject the commandments of God that ye may keep your tradition…”. (Mk. 7: 7-9 KJV) I ask you, do not the commandments of the Torah forbid men to add to the body of the Torah, or to take away from it?

  • Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you. (Duet. 4:2 KJV)

  • What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it. (Duet. 12:32 KJV)

Without a doubt, tradition can blind us to the truth and cause us to wander in the myopic fog of man-made religious systems for an entire lifetime. I freely admit that errant religious traditions certainly have affected my life for many years!

Some Brief History Of Ancient Pagan Religious Beliefs, and How They

Have Evolved Into Modern Christian “Holidays”

The worship of Tammuz began after the world-wide flood of Noah’s day. It was then that the world began again to be peopled by the children of Noah, and remember that the whole world in those days was of one language. Sunrise Nimrod became a mighty one at that time, and had a very great following. His city became the center of the then world and he bore totalitarian rule over the people, he was, in his time worshipped as God. (He was the anti-Messiah of his day) It was they who built the ancient tower of Babel, and it was at that time that Yehovah looked down on the children of men and determined He needed to confound their speech in order to separate them and cause them to be spread across the earth. (Ge.10: 8-10 and Ge. 11:1-9) According to ancient Jewish tradition Nimrod was slain by Noah’s son Shem and his body parts spread across Shinar. However, Nimrod’s widow (Semiramis) not wanting to see the kingdom slip through her fingers made up the story that Nimrod had not died, but had ascended into the heavens becoming the sun-god, and that he had impregnated her with the rays of the sun. The child was then born on the winter solstice, (On the ancient calendar Dec. 25th) and was given the name Tammuz. After that, December 25th was celebrated as the day that Nimrod, the Babylonian sun-god was reborn as Tammuz.

The ancient kingdom of Israel was at least in part destroyed and the remnant taken into captivity into Babylon because of their worship of the sun god, thus testifying of Yehovah’s hatred for this practice. (Ez. 8:13-18) Earlier in Egypt they had learned to worship the Egyptian sun god, whose name was Ra, who was said to be born on Dec. 25th. In 168 BC Antiochus Epiphanes captured the city of Jerusalem and desecrated the temple setting up a stature of Zeus, who also was said to be born on December 25th. Later when the Romans conquered Jerusalem they sacrificed patriots on wooden crosses, the cross was to them the symbol of the Roman god Mithra, who was also said to be born on December 25th. The confusion of languages at the Tower of Babel scattered the people into every corner of the earth, and changed the names of their gods, but the worship rituals remained much the same throughout the earth. There is one date I believe we can feel very sure that Yeshua of Nazereth was not born on, and that is December 25th, but who was? Baby Tammuz, the son of Semiranis who had become the “exalted queen of heaven”, he was born on December 25th.

Tammuz was gored to death at the age of 40 by a wild boar while hunting, after that, the 40 days of weeping of Tammuz was instituted, one day for each of the 40 years that Tammuz had lived. This was a time when sun-god worshipper would deny themselves a pleasure in this life for Tammuz pleasure in the afterlife. Years later Tammuz’ mother, “The Exalted Queen of Heaven” died, and was said to have been sent back to the earth by the gods on the first Sunday after the vernal equinox. Nimrod’s wife arrived on earth in a giant egg which landed in the Euphrates River and broke open allowing her to appear as the bare breasted goddess of sexual desire and fertility. IE, Easter. To proclaim her divinity, Easter turned a bird into an egg laying rabbit. Now you know the source of the modern western Easter Egg tradition.

Later in Tammuz caves the occult priests would impregnate young virgins on the altar of Easter at an Easter sun rise service. A year later the three month old infants were offered as sacrifices on that same altar, and their blood was used to dye Easter eggs. Easter Sunday is now the day that culminates the 40 days of weeping for Tammuz. (Lent) To this day, major denominations continue the tradition of ending this forty-day period of time by killing the pig that killed Tammuz and eating it for Easter Sunday dinner. I believe there is one day we can be very sure that Yeshua was not raised from the dead, and that is Easter Sunday. Frequently Easter and Passover are completely one month apart in that they represent two totally different religions, and calendar systems. Easter is determined according to the pagan calendar. Passover is rightly determined according to Biblical standards pertaining to the New Moon, and the maturity level of the barley harvest in Israel. The barley in Israel must reach a certain degree of maturity, which is called Aviv, before Passover can happen. (Ex. 13:4, 23:15, Lev. 23:4-11) (Aviv is an agricultural terms designating a certain level of maturity in the barley crop) Yeshua did not celebrate a holiday with any of these pagan elements in it, rather, by His life and substitutionary death He perfectly fulfilled the Passover, which Yehovah had recreated as a shadow picture of His Son from heaven. There is not a single detail of the Passover festival that His life, death, and resurrection did not fulfill. His sinless blood paid the price for our redemption. On the other hand, Easter is a rehearsal of pagan fertility rights and child sacrifice. Which celebration should you keep?

I would say that depends on which god you choose to serve.

Yehovah commanded in His law, “When thou art come into the land which the Lord thy God (Yehovah thy lord) giveth thee, thou shalt not do after the abominations of those nations. (Deut. 18:9 KJV) It is brilliantly clear by these words that Yehovah does not want His worship to be polluted by the mixture of any aspects of other religions, in fact, these are an abomination to Him, for He is a jealous God. (Ex. 20:1-6, Dt. 6:15-16, Ex. 34:14) Christmas and Easter are not Biblically based celebrations of the birth and death of Yeshua of Nazareth, but are at best ancient pagan holidays that have been “Christian-ized” to make them look acceptable. This is an abomination to Yehovah. Yeshua, our redeemer always spoke the Torah, the Psalms, and the Prophets. He taught the Torah, the Psalms, the Prophets, and He performed every deed of His life right up until, and including His death, according to the Torah, the Psalms, and the Prophets. If we would please Him in our service to God, we will need to do the very same thing.

The idea of forming religious practices to look “Christian” is no new idea. The children of Israel did this very same thing after leaving Egypt while Moses was on the mountain. In their unbelief and rebellion, they formed a golden calf as an idol, and then proclaimed, “ A festival to Yehovah”. These people of ancient Israel were like major aspects of Christianity today that attempt to “Christian-ize” false worship. In fact, many Christians upon first hearing this truth reply, “But, the holidays don’t mean that to me, I celebrate them as unto the Lord.” To be honest with you, I said the very same thing. But then when I thought about it, I realized that I cannot do what He has commands me not to do, and then say that I am doing it as unto Him. That just does not make any sense. NO, for years, I was just like the people of ancient Israel, I was worshiping contrary to Yehovah’s commands and thinking I was doing it unto Him.

Remember, according to Ex. 32: 5-10, Yehovah was so angered by their betrayal and disobedience that He was ready to consume them, and would have except for the intercession of Moses. And when Aaron saw it, (The golden calf) he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, tomorrow is a feast to the Lord. (Festival of Yehovah) And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play. And the Lord (Yehovah) said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves: They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. And the Lord (Yehovah) said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiff-necked people: Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation.

It is therefore my judgment and exhortation that men do as I have done, and truth-seekers all over the world are doing, and that is leave behind “Christian-ized celebrations such as Christmas and Easter, and conform their lives more perfectly to the truth. This will lead to the celebration of the Biblical festivals: The holidays (Holy days) He commands, the which are full of truth, and every detail of each festival is reflective of the person and ministry of Messiah, and Yehovah’s purpose in and for mankind.

A “holiday” (Supposed holy day) invented by the Roman Church, but in no sense, is the observance of it commanded in the Scriptures, nor do the Scriptures set the example of people of faith celebrating such a “holiday”. It is a celebration where ancient pagan ideas, values, and symbolism is mixed with Christian truth, and there is zero Scripture compulsion to celebrate it, and the same goes for the other “Christian” holidays mentioned in this article. Historical documents, as well as the New Testament Scriptures show the early Church celebrating the Festivals of Yehovah, but there is no mention of them celebrating “Christmas”. Further, December 25th is very conclusively not the birthday of Yeshua. Yeshua, who is God Almighty tabernacle-ing among men, was born on the 15th day of the 7th month of the Creator’s calendar, in the month the Jews refer to as Tishri. This day is the high Sabbath of the Festival of Tabernacles, and most often falls in the month we call September. With the advancement of modern computers, events in times past can be extremely accurately established, verifying the validity of this statement. Yeshua, was born nowhere near December 25th. Rather, that date has been since ancient times recognized as the supposed birth date of several false gods, all having their roots in ancient paganism that started at the time of the Tower of Babel.

The traditional purpose of Lent is supposed to be the preparation of the Believer through prayer, penance, repentance, almsgiving, and self-denial. Its institutional purpose is heightened in the annual commemoration of “Holy Week”, marking the death and resurrection of Yeshua, which supposedly recalls the events of the Bible when Yeshua was crucified on what is referred to as Good Friday, which then culminates in the celebration of the resurrection of Yeshua on what is called Easter Sunday. Apostles As in the case of Christmas, this “holiday” was invented by the Roman Church, and does not spring from any commandment in the Torah, or proclamation from Yeshua, or by the word or wisdom of the early Apostles, nor is there any Scriptural example of early Church Believers celebrating this period of time. Yes, prayer, penance, repentance, almsgiving, and self-denial are in themselves good, but does not Yehovah have in mind that these be practiced in respect to His commanded festivals?Beyond these points of reason, let it be mentioned again that Lent is an invention of the Roman Church which was begun by the order of Constantine, who was himself a sun-god worshipper, and who had ordered by penalty of death that neither the Sabbath, nor the Festivals of Yehovah were to be kept. Also, let it be stated that Messiah did not die on a Friday, and was not raised to life on a Sunday. (A careful observation of the Scriptures bears this out to be true, but the establishment of this fact is not the point of this article) ……so Lent, as a part of the celebration of these “holidays” is in itself, a moot point.

Palms Sunday:

The recognition of what is called Palm Sunday, reminds me of a statement that Yehsua made to the Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well. He said, “Ye worship ye know not what...” (John 4: 22a KJV) I too, ignorantly accepted the trappings of modern Christian tradition for many years, but as I began to seriously look at the Scriptures, I found that the traditions did not add up. Show me in the Scriptures where it is said that Yeshua entered Jerusalem on a Sunday? (Read carefully John 12:1-16) John records that Yeshua came to Bethany six days before the Passover, then on the next day He entered Jerusalem. The Passover that year was on a Wednesday, we know this, in that Messiah was 3 days and 3 nights in the earth before He could rise on the Seventh Day Sabbath. These realities establish that He entered Jerusalem on the preparation day of the Seventh Day Sabbath. (Friday)

Good Friday:

The recognition of this day is again a hoax. Yeshua, according to His own words, after His death had to remain in the earth before His resurrection for 3 days and 3 nights. (Mat. 12:40) There is no possible way that Messiah could die on a Friday and be 3 days and nights in the earth, and then rise on a first day morning after the Sabbath. (Jo. 20:1) This breach of Scripture alone invalidates the recognition and practice of what is called Good Friday. The recognition and practice of what is called Good Friday is also a concoction of the Roman Church, and is an abomination to Yehovah, because it is a lie. Yes, Messiah is risen, and yes that is to be celebrated. I agree with my whole heart, for therein hangs the Christian’s hope of justification, of resurrection, and of eternal life. There is not a day that I do not endeavor to walk in the light of these truths, and for you who still live in darkness, these truths are your hope of life and light. However, we as men do not possess the right to worship the Creator in just any way we may feel like. He has commanded how we are to worship Him, and propagating a lie certainly is not the way. (Rev. 21:8)

Easter Sunday:

Yeshua was crucified on Passover day, which is the day before the high Sabbath of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, which happened that year to be on a Wednesday. He was in the grave Wednesday night through Friday night rising sometime on Saturday, which was the Seventh Day Sabbath. (Mat. 28:1) Yeshua never rose on a first day morning. (Sunday morning) This reality fulfills the Scripture in that Yeshua said that no sign would be given that generation accept the sign of the prophet Jonah, which He said was that He would be 3 days, and three nights in the heart of the earth. (Mat. 12:39-40) The fact that Yeshua rose on the Sabbath is also established by the fact that Mary Magdalene came before day break while it was still dark, and she found the tomb empty. (Jo. 20:1) What is called Easter Sunday is one more example of the Roman Church endeavoring to Christian-ize ancient pagan worship days. For the one who proclaimed the Roman Church was no other than Constantine, and he was a Sun God follower all his life, and it was he who proclaimed Sunday as the venerable day of the Sun. (Venerable means, to accord a great deal of respect)

New Year’s Day:

At the exodus of the Hebrews from Egypt some approximately 3,500 years ago, Yehovah established the criteria for the calendar that He commanded to be kept. Its chief function was very obviously to establish for perpetuity the days and months in which the Festivals of Yehovah were/are to be kept/celebrated. Which festivals all speak of Him, and no other. The first day of Yehovah’s calendar year is to be established by the tandem by two factors: that of the barley being aviv in the land of Israel, and the sighting of the first sliver of the new moon in the land of Israel. I for one grant the Creator’s calendar my recognition, therefore in my mind the real “new year’s day” is not January 1st, as the Gregorian calendar says it to be, but is in the spring of the year according to the criteria that Yehovah established. Yes, I fully realize that we live in a society that has for centuries, and will at least for the fore seeable future not operate according to Yehovah’s calendar, therefore, we are caught be twixt the two. However, that does not mean that a Believer should openly celebrate that which is false, and contrary to what the Creator commanded. (Ex. 12: 1-2, Ex. 23:15, Ex. 34:18, Duet. 16:1-22, Lev. 23:1-44)

Creator’s Calendar

If we call ourselves Christians, and if we would please Him who calls us to glory and virtue, then it is our duty to lay aside all points of ignorance and confusion and arm ourselves with the truth.

…you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God's household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth. (1 Tim 3:15 KJV)

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (Ro. 12:1-3 KJV)

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place. (Eph. 6:14 NIV)
