The Believer’s Ultimate Hope, Providing Ability To Overcome Tribulation–Persecution-Temptation
I appears to me that an entrance into this life is a baptism into troubles for all people. Life seems to have a way of delivering one challenge after another. These challenges in one’s life may take on a million different “faces”, but all having the ability to cause us to stretch, change and grow, or if we do not handle them wisely they will often work to destroy us. Life’s struggles seem to begin as early as conception, and then take a huge leap at birth, and continue to increase from that point onward. However, I would say that any child who is blessed with wise parents, or parent figures, that will as the child grows encourage, instruct, and discipline that child in regards to those necessary disciplines of life that can help that soul avoid at least some of life’s painful and destructive pitfalls, that child is to be counted fortunate. Very sadly, not all children have such parent figures.
The Christian comes to understand that the enemy of God, who is the common enemy of mankind, whose name is Satan, has sown into this world’s system the spirit of his own person, which is summarized with these words: kill-steal-destroy. He is a liar, a murderer, a thief, and an all-around destructive and abusive personality, he is the one who introduced these elements into the world and into the hearts of men. Now we who are alive in the earth are all affect by these satanic influences, but we must not accept them into our character, or surrender to them, but rather overcome them, or they (By Satan’s design) will overcome us.
The most basic purpose of this article is to address the very bottom-line motivational factor (s) that can positively empower every soul of man, and that, even in their very darkest hours. In those hours of temptation and embattlement when nothing in this life holds out enough hope to cause the soul of man to wish to pick itself up, to again one more time face life’s battles. In other words, where do you go when all tangible hope is gone? Firstly, I will say that this man has long ago concluded that Yeshua is the source of all life, wisdom, and power. He is the Christian’s ROCK. The Christian ought to run to Him with every challenge and success. He is the One that holds out for all men the promise of the joys of life in Him. For the Christian, many of this life’s joys and accomplishments will be very similar to the joys and accomplishments of those outside the faith, but it is the Christian’s duty to only seek these in the name of our Lord Yeshua. But, what we do when the precious things of this life are being taken from us? Perhaps by disease, perhaps by death entering into our family circle, or perhaps by the persecution of our faith, or the betrayal of someone close, or a misjudgment in a business, or any other of a thousand things that may touch our life? Where do you go to set the anchor of your hope when everything around you is crumbing? I suggest to you that you go to Yeshua, but particularly that you go to the promises in Him that are outside of this present world, and this present life.
Set your hope in the promises that nothing in this life can touch in that they are deposited by faith in Heaven’s treasury.
Where do you go when every fiber of your being is set in desire for the body of a woman that you cannot (Or cannot yet) by Yehovah’s law have? There is ultimately only one answer. You look up and see Yeshua, and the reward that He has for you if you will love him and be faithful to Him, and entrust Him to provide not only the answer for your sexuality, but also reward at His coming.
Where do set your hope when your being is filled with loneliness and desire to be noticed, listened to, admired, and cherished. But the only men in our life’s acquaintance do not seek the God that pursues your soul? Therefore to surrender to such a man is to surrender your whole set of values, and you very likely also know that to join yourself with the ungodly is to very likely end up living with a whole set of negative outcomes that you do not want, nor does God want for you. Yet, you desire so strongly to experience the fullness of your womanhood by union to, and fellowship with a man, but Yehovah’s answer has not yet been provided to you. (A godly husband) I tell you, that there are times when there is no immediate answer, and the great power to overcome that you need so desperately will only be found when you lift your eyes into Heaven itself and see that you have a reward waiting for you there, if you will be faithful.
Where do you go when you have taken each step in obedience to the faith of Yeshua and His commandments, and these have caused you to be rejected and forsaken, perhaps by your own Church members, perhaps by your family, perhaps by your closest and oldest friends? Where do you go when because of the conviction of God’s word you find yourself all alone, without a friend, without support, perhaps even then without finance or health? Even perhaps the convictions of truth have led you to prison, or perhaps the unending bombardments of the devil’s temptations has worn your soul down. To you also I suggest Yeshua, but especially to those promises found in Christ where no amount of the confusion, unbelief, lies, or the treachery of this present world can affect you, because you realize you are called to an eternal existence in another world. A world where Christ and His ways will reign supreme. The promises that are reserved in Heaven for the faithful.
Promises such as these:
- To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you. (1 Peter 1:4 KJV) Peter expressed this hope. No wonder he was able to live a faithful life through exceeding labor and difficulties, and then, as tradition has it, his life was terminated when he was for his faith crucified by the Romans upside down.
- For the which cause I also suffer these things: never the less I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, an am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have commuted unto him against that day. (1Timothy 1:12 KJV) Paul expressed this hope near the end of his life. He was misunderstood, persecuted and hated more then what I could imagine a man could endure. His life ended with his head being chopped off by the order of Nero, king of Rome. Yet these words were some of the very last he ever wrote. I believe they show his life’s perspective.
- And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall wake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament: and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. (Daniel 12: 2-3 KJV) Written by Daniel who lived nearly his complete life in a foreign and pagan land, and who experienced more than one life threatening danger
- Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gate in to the city. (Revelation 22:14 KJV) These words were spoken by our Lord Yeshua. Who being in the very form of God emptied Himself and partook of all the rigors of this life, to in the end surrender Himself to a brutal and humiliating death on a Roman cross. But in that He did no sin, death could not hold him. He was resurrected from the grave, leaving us these words of promise.
Again I say to you YES, there are many expressions of promise given in the Bible in respect to this present life to those who have faith and wisdom to apply them to themselves. These promises are needed to empower the Believer to overcome in this life and live a full and productive life. However, I suggest that times will occur in your life when deeper and enduring promises will be needed to empower you to overcome. Therefore let us “set our affections on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye (the Believer) are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God**. (Colossians 3:2-3 KJV) For this world is not the final home of the Believer, and it is often not such a welcoming place. This is especially true for those Believers who live out godliness in Yeshua, even as is expressed in these words of the Apostle Paul. “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.”** (1 Corinthians 15:19 KJV) Therefore, possess and use the blessing of this present world, but only use them to Yehovah’s glory, and hold unto them with a loose grip, for at best they are only temporary.
